Clinical utility of the pediatric respiratory rate-oxygenation index. A recently published study evaluated the pediatric respiratory rate-oxygenation index to predict high-flow nasal cannula therapy failure in children. This commentary outlines limitations to the clinical applicability of the study results and suggestions for future research.
