Lung Function in Infants with Sickle Cell Anemia. Lung volumes and forced expiratory flows were evaluated in 22 infants with sickle cell anemia and compared with a control group. Forced expiratory flows showed significantly lower values in the sickle cell group. The majority of infants had normal lung function, and obstruction was the most common pattern of abnormality.
