Texture analysis of magnetic resonance imaging that computerizes and extracts differences in signals that we cannot sense visually is now demonstrated as a significant prognostic biomarker for the progression of renal decline in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. Image analysis holds promise for providing a new dimension for the management of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
