Approach to Ventricular Arrhythmias in the Intensive Care Unit. Arrhythmias are commonly encountered in the intensive care unit as a primary admitting diagnosis or secondary to an acute illness. Appropriate identification and treatment of ventricular arrhythmias in this setting are particularly important to reduce morbidity and mortality. This review highlights the epidemiology, mechanisms, electrocardiographic features, and treatment of ventricular arrhythmias.
