Research for Improving Patient Care. Research is an integral part of medicine. Health research aims at generating evidence for development of new medicines, procedures and tools, all of which are directed at improved patient care. Research also aims at incorporating this evidence into clinical practice by developing clinical practice guidelines and developing robust health systems including governmental policies and systems. Health research not only allows doctors to decide how to best treat patients but also empowers patients to take active role in their health.
