Nutritional Considerations in Liver Disease. Malnutrition occurs in most patients with advanced liver diseases and is associated with higher rates of morbidity and mortality. In this article, the authors discuss the pathophysiology of malnutrition and methods to optimize nutrition status in liver disease and include a brief section on perioperative and postoperative nutrition.
