Don't repeat colorectal cancer screening by colonoscopy for 10 years after a high-quality normal colonoscopy in average-risk individuals. Setting: average-risk individual with a prior high-quality colonoscopy that was normal, within the last 10 years Why: Repeating colonoscopy sooner than 10 years after a normal high-quality examination in average-risk patients adds risk and cost without benefit. Consider instead: resume screening at the guideline-recommended 10-year interval Source: American Gastroenterological Association (Choosing Wisely, US, 2012).
